I watched the sunrise this morning (because I was up and I probably won't be up this early tomorrow).

Jybson and I were originally going to go to Stonehenge - but then we heard about the sex, drugs and general disrespect for the place that people show so we then thought about going to Woodhenge or Glastonbury Tor. It would break my heart to see the amount of litter people leave behind in the morning at SH - how totally embarrassing.

After deciding that the weather might not be up to much - we decided to forego the long journey down there and 'weather permitting' help my dad finish his garden pond and then have a barbeque instead on Saturday.

Sounds far less stressful to me. :thumbleft:

Ha - no chance. I can barely stay up beyond 10pm any night.

Hope the weather is nice for those of you who are staying up and do have a great time.

Ooops - if it was this morning we missed it - but we are going to have abonfire tonight instead
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Not to worry, Pagan day timing starts at sunset the previous calendar day so the sunrise to be up for is tomorrow's! (Saturday)

Happy Midsummer to all that celebrate it, and Happy Yule to you down-under types! BB!

Well, I'm on night duty, so I'll definately be awake. It's 22.57 now and it's still bright to the west. Last few mornings it has started getting light at about 04.00. So much more cheerful than being on nights in winter, when I feel more like a vampire, never seeing daylight.

All of the villages and towns will have big bonfires here tonight.

Isn't it a lovely conincidence how a lot of celebrations just happen to fall around Pagan dates

I have a lot to be thankful for. My crops are full of life, my trees are tall and strong, my dogs are funny and loyal and my partner is all I could ask for (mostly!!).

Happy solstice all.

I got up at 3am and went up to watch the sun come up over The Wash. It was the most stunningly beautiful thing I've seen since I saw the sun come up over Avebury :dave: one solstice back in the 80s :flower: (I lived in Swindon then). But of course, I walked all the way up there and then realised that I'd brought a torch but left my camera at home! :angryfire: Still, there is something very magical about seeing the sun come up over the sea. Oh well, there's always next year.

Me and my sister couldn't stay up that long... so we went to bed early instead and got up about 2:30am! Sunrise was really lovely... :sunny:

Happy Midsummer!

Over the Wash? But I distinctly saw it come up over the river Ryton. Oh well - must be a different sun

Well, after climbing a large hill and 'enjoying' the 'refreshing' rain, our efforts were rewarded by seeing one patch of grey cloud become distinctly lighter! And no wonder Gloucester was a no-show if you lot were monopolising the Sun!
