Thanks CT! Finlay/Fin is an excellent name, but would have sounded rubbish with our French surname. Dominic was briefly a contender as DH's best friend is a Dominic, but we settled instead to ask him to be a godfather. I hope he'll be really pleased as we both love him to bits and he doesn't have any children.

Funnily enough DD was a huge Thomas groupie, I was saying to her only yesterday what a good thing it was I kept all her Thomas books and DVDs! I think I'm going to have to get used to a whole new take on the world, and a good thing too.

I'm finally allowing myself to start planning and have today agreed to buy some second hand Motherease Sandys nappies, having in the end decided to go with what I know. If anyone would like a huge stash of prefolds please let me know.

ds1 was always an Arthur (he was Gilbert for a while when he was the size of a grape) then Arfur banana. ha ha ha. But we always had Arthur as a name, and I felt that I always knew he was a boy. We had Selkie as a girl name possibility, and Rhiannon, but it was always Arthur.
When ds2 came along, I had no inklings what he was, so we were a bit stuck for names. We thought about Selkie, but had gone off it a bit. We had no boys names - I liked rowan but as we saw at the Northern Green, if you shout Rowan in the types of circles we move in, every child turns their head.

Dh's dad had died almost at the time of conception of ds2, and we thought about his name and we thought about my dad's name, as he had died just before ds1 born. Still nothing stood out.

When we clapped eyes on the screwed up face of our second born, we knew he was "bad Harry" or even Flash Harry, so dh's dad's name got used, with my dad's name as his second name - Harry Andrew. Not quite the cultural cachet as Arthur, but it suits him and they seem like a pair of rascals together with their kingly names.

I say go with what you feel like, if it is Meadow, then so be it. And the Joneses, you could always have gone for Mrs.
My SIL is called Angharad, which is Welsh for Beloved (sort of), and is quite unusual. She does tend to go by the name of Bob mostly, though.

We have an Isabella May and a Sophia Rose,we have an Italian surname so I think they go well but I'm sure they'll get called Izi and Soph or something else prefer as they get bigger.

Sorry, I think it's a done deal! Funny how some names are just beyond the pale for one person and perfect for another!

Boy names are so hard...Saffie was always gonna be Sapphire Louise from when we were trying but boy names well we have Kyan Mark (hubby is Mark) I want Beau but Beau Mark sounds like Primark lol (think that's how you spell it we don't have on here) If we have another girl I Like Alyssa Mai, Lissy Mai I'm one who likes to shorten names. It's funny how we all have different ideas good job really or we'd all be called the same lol

We've been fairly traditional with Laura, Christopher and Jonathan - I don't like weird names , perhaps I'm just boring.

I do like the name Max though... and think the name Finlay Malcolm McNeil is a cracker. He'll go far with a good commanding name like that.

We've got and Adeline, a Letitia and a Felicité. The first two were born before we had the idea of moving to France and they are not too uncommon here. Felicité (French spelling just makes everybody's life easier) is a traditional name here but she was the only girl to receive the name in the whole country in the year she was born. Should save any confusion at school, that.

And for boys I like:
Fernley,
Seth,
Elfyn,

How about "Fletcher" for a boy? As in Fletcher Christian of HMS Bounty? I always rather liked that. A fletcher, of course, is one who makes arrows.

Reminds me of Ronnie Barker I'm afraid.

Why thank you, Shirlz. We'd like to see him on the shortlist for the Booker Prize at some point, whilst his brother Ellis Peter McNeil is aiming for the Nobel.......

Although OH thinks that FM and EP McNeil would look rather nice on the back of rugby shirts - now, Scotland or Wales, that's the next dilemma!

Ooh glad it's rugby - my OH has just got a load of the girls he coaches through to the Scotland training squad! A dream can become reality and I do believe that it's GOOD to dream.

We chose names for our unborn baby, many moons ago. Vyvyan Nicholas if a boy (sorry we'd been watching the Young One's too much) and Alice Mary if a girl.

Well girl she was and, after we realised we'd been referring to her as "she" for a few days, it clicked that she just wasn't an Alice or Mary. Can't tell you why, but it just didn't fit her. Still doesn't, she's now 22 and definitely a Nicola (which is fortunate).
