I only moved here in April, and was very pleased to see that my predecessors had planted rhubarb... And that has already given me more than I can handle. Apart from that, the garden was lawn (and bits of gravel  ); I've not put in too much of an effort (dug up the borders, and planted some containers), because I get more veg than I can eat from the veg box place where I do voluntary work...

The allotment has produced strawberries, raspberries, tayberries, rhubarb, beetroot, lettuce, carrots, assorted herbs, spring onions, radish, new potatoes, turnip, peas, wild rocket and the first two courgettes.

There's apples, pears, plums, onions, garlic, shallots, leeks, marrows, swedes, assorted varieties of beans, parsnips, red lettuce, red cabbage, summer cabbage, coriander, Florence fennel and khol rabi all to come and certainly more of what we have eaten so far to come.

I've planted a little of a lot of different things this year to avoid gluts. We'll see how we go and what else goes in to fill in the spaces. Can't tell you all the things that will be eaten as we don't know yet. We haven't counted all the failures or got through all the plagues yet. It's only the first day of July.

I've done the opposite to Flo, and managed to arrange for massive gluts of one or two vegetables at a time. I blame the baby [now 8 weeks old], which meant that my planting time had to be confined to running down to the 'lottie, throwing all my seeds in to a big hole, and running back to look after Mrs Mal/Mal Jr 1/Mal Jr 2!
