We've had below freezing at night time the last 3 nights but the days have been sunny and lovely and I'm doing things in the potager and thinking of planting.... at long last! :flower:

I mowed our lawn on Thursday. It took me 3 hours!
At least we now have something other than kitchen waste in the compost bin.
It got up to 25 degrees in the plastic greenhouse for about 5 minutes, then went back to 20 and windy,I was down there potting on Leeks and cauliflower.
Do you people in Australia bother to use Greenhouses if it is always so warm?

I have a small plastic house to hlep me start seedlings in winter and I grow the odd tomato plant in there. It is also a nice warm place to work in winter!

I have found other summer uses for it, like seasoning timber and pasturising mushroom compost(!). so it does get used, but is not a major player in the food production stakes.

I bet that dries out your firewood nicely, let's see, if it is 40C outside in the shade, what does that make it in the sun in your greenhouse? Bloody hot I should think!

Still about 80% of the ground covered in snow. Not looking good for our lambs.... The first ones are due to be born on Wednesday, and we've got nowhere to put them. Even if the snow is gone by then (sunny spells today, so there's a chance), the fields are still far too wet and cold.

Just checked the weather forecast again - more snow and sleet for tomorrow and Tuesday! No, no, no... It's just been thawing away quite nicely today. :(

Cool - I've got a few days off and there's no rain forecast down here so I can get the trenching and woodwork done for the polytunnel. Max temp 6C so still too cool for putting a skin on the tunnel though. Where the hell is spring?
