In France we have compote apples - great big ones about 3 times the size of a normal apple - they cook to mush quickly and hence that's what they are used for! Well anyway any of my apples taste wonderful compared to the floury dry rubbish that is for sale all year round in the shops, even in apple season!

Oh I thought they were the opposite - what people used for apple pies.
