Chicken - changed appearance???

Do you keep livestock? Having any problems? Want to talk about it, whether it be sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, bees or llamas, here is your place to discuss.

I think MMM is probably right.

The pale comb means she won't be laying and the rest of her behaviour suggests to me that she is just feeling under the weather and conserving her energies.

I would give her an inspection, have a little feel about for any unusual lumps and bumps, check for lice and the usual sort of thing.

If you can't find anything obvious, have a look in her vent just to make sure she's ok there and there isn't an egg or anything else, but i think it's unlikely you'll find anything.

If you find nothing on her, then my best guess would be that she is just slowing down with age, and either something is going wrong internally, in which case she will just depart one day, or she really is just under the weather and she'll get over it.

In either case I don't think there is much more you can do really.

Hope that is some help. Let us know what goes on.
