My husband is an electrician. The inverter automatically shuts off power to the grid. He says there are ways to divert to a battery bank until they are charged then to the grid. He says most do that manually and he has only read about automatic switches.

I don't know about European dials, but in America they would still turn 'backward' which would interfere with accurate readings, but more importantly the workers could be killed.
