No problem.

And besides, I have to confess to teaching my boys the Lumberjack Song

PS The funniest Monty Python film? Try Monty Python and the Holy Grail dubbed into German. I don't speak German, but for some reason it was even funnier than in English - not least because they'd managed to keep all the funny voices.

And today's latest on the Stonehead Curse...

The rear wiper motor on the Landie decided to die yesterday.

The driver's side door on the Landie decided to disintegrate today (big chunk fell off the bottom and the lower hinge is barely holding).

But I'm laughing. Why? Because when I was parked outside the playgroup today, a large pine tree decided to topple over as I was putting the Wee Un in the Landie. We were right underneath it, but it snagged a neighbouring tree and hung up.

See, always look on the bright side of life!

PS Wish I'd had a camera with me - I know a lot of people don't believe all the rubbish that falls on us here so it would have been nice to document the one that didn't!!

There might be a curse on Stonehead - but there seems to be a guardian angel around, too... Thank goodness you are all ok.

Mind you, it might have been better if the tree had hit the landie (without anybody in it, of course) - would the insurance have paid for something rather more in one piece? :?

We'd be lucky if the insurance company for the car paid out very much, but as the tree was on council land, was marked for removal and not removed when they took the rest out, well, let's just say it would have been a nice one for the lawyers!

One of the mums said to me: "Would you have noticed a difference if it fell on your Landie?" The cheek!

New or used, doors cost a mint for Defenders as its very common for either the steel door frame rusts out or you get the dreaded alloy rot. Or, as in our case, you get both!

There are a couple on ebay:

New Defender driver's door £210 and rising
New Defender passenger door £210 and rising

Gulp!

Used ones go for between £110 and £150, so considering they'll already be old and suffering rot to some degree you're probably better off going for new.

I'm going to try the scrappies for doors off a Defender up to about three years old, but they know how much they're worth. It's a shame it's not the back door, you can get them for between £20 and £50.

You certainly would have noticed the difference if you and your kids had been in already! Honestly...
