... how much to make?

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

im aiming for 20 jars of jam - i bake a lot of victoria sponge cakes and jam tarts for lo so we do go through a lot and i have regular visitors who eat there way through my pantry!

im hoping on top of that i can make at least another 6 for xmas pressies but im rapidly running out of jars and ive been saving them all year and harvesting my mothers empty ones from the bin

so tomorrow im off blackberry picking to make some blackberry cordial and jams - trying to find a cordial recipie that will keep well any ideas where i can find one ?
If you have a Freecycle or Freegle in your local area, just put an add on and ask for empty jam jars. I see lots of those adds on my local one and I have actually got some jam jars last year for my 45 pots of green tomato chutney as I just ran out of jars myself! I will have some of that chutney for at least the next 5 years!!

damn i complain about lack of jars and today i find the BIGGEST and almost toppling over crab apple trees due to the amount of fruit! and soo many blackberries i have no idea what to do! im harvesting jars from the fridge putting almost finished pickles etc into lidded tubs so i can use the jars!

managed to get 2 bottles of blackberry cordial out of the berries i picked today. im hoping to make some more and that it will keep well.

i didnt realise plymouth had so much free food to offer - already spotted several sweet chestnut trees that im looking forward to and hazel nuts if i can beat the squirrels.
