The Earth Care Manual by Patrick Whitefield is probably the most comprehensive book on Permaculture in the UK, but there are several books by Graham Burnett that are worth a look. As previously posted, check out the Green Shopping Guide for a full range of Permaculture Books.

Anybody know of any permaculture courses in or around Essex, Hertfordshire or Cambridgeshire? I've just finished a Horticulture course and now I want to take it in a slightly different direction.

have a look in the back of permaculture magazine or maybe go to the permaculture association website.

Nothing substitutes for hands on experience. Would recommend you sign up for helpX or wwoof volunteering and work on a permaculture project. There's a fantastic example near me (North Lincolnshire) who are part of the permaculture LAND project.

oh really, i don't get that as i bought a PDF of the book from the publishers.

Reading on Amazon it's a major problem with the book.
One lady notes that the publisher did replace the book for free.
I have put it on my wish list for Christmas

Glad I found this recommendation for Martin Crawford book as I'm dropping hints for some permaculture & forest gardening books for Christmas and I hadn't got that one on the list.
I'd also recommend Permaculture Magazine - I find it really inspires me!
Ellie-in-wellies I don't know if you're still following this thread but I've discovered that Transition Towns Downham Market are organising permaculture courses, based around Downham Market which is just into Norfolk but near Cambs border. If you google them or follow links from Transition Towns website you should find out more.
