Not voluntarily. I suffer fairly badly from hayfever, and it was
much worse when I was a kid, so the idea of playing outside in a large field of grass held much the same appeal for me as the idea of going swimming in a vat of hydrochloric acid. Plus I got bullied a lot at school, and few situations provide opportunities for bullies like team sports. Oh, and I'm pretty sure have mild exercise-induced asthma, which I've only realised in the last few yeas... Put that all together and PE was quite literally a nightmare for me.
But there's a big difference between participating in sport, watching sport, and having your locality turned upside down by other people watching sport. And there's also a difference between team sports and solo sports, and another between what you might call direct and indirect competition... I was a pretty serious climber for a while, I was on the cusp of getting my black belt in karate before I realised I really didn't like sparring, and I can both canoe and shoot a recurve bow moderately well. I can be competitive, but I'm very much
not a team player.
