Having seen and heard from friends that kept ducks bare in mind that the males rape everything in sight when the hormones take over.........known to kill ducks, cockerels anything that moves in a mounting frenzy! Their males ended-up as duck a l'oragne  .

That is one of the things I like best about the Apricot Minature Crested that I have - I ended up last year with one female and two males, both of which I wanted to keep because of their excellent crests. I was very worried about what might happen and monitored the situation closely. I know they mated the duck, because there was pretty well 100 percent fertility with the eggs, but I never saw them hassle her. And when I allowed her to sit they were fine, and didn't bother her when she came off the nest.

There were other ducks in the pen with them, but the three Apricots stayed as a little group

They are lovely DBE. I think they were male Indian Runner Ducks that caused the problems and they had free roam of the place, lots of other chickens and ducks about so it's always chaos there.

Yes - We only do calm here! Anything that is "trouble" meets the freezer  - at least that way I don't feel guilty when they have to go

Crested Ducks

Hi again - I am editing this to add a link to my Miniature Apricot Crested Ducks site as there is quite a bit of info about the breed. (Mods -if that's not ok then please just remove.)
