Gardening feels like a bit of a struggle this year - battling slugs and snails around my herbs and salads, and foxes who keep digging up my carrots and beans. Have already lost all my coriander and half the parsley.

I'm sorry you're having trouble Yvette, have you tried Diatomaceous Earth for those slugs? Also, we keep the dog and cats from digging things up with a liberal dusting of the soil with cayenne pepper...would that maybe help?

In the past two days I have hoed almost 600 row-feet of veggies, mostly corn and tomatoes, and planted squash and pumkins amoungst my corn. I also planted another 20 feet of beets and some red curly beans in with my Cucs, and Rainbow Chard under my cuc trellis.

The weather here is going back to hot-ish, so will have to start watering in earnest.

Durgan - why not try looking at everyone's blogs. Mine has hundreds of photos and everything I'm doing in the garden and I could say ditto for many people's blogs on here.

It's no different from your website, only we don't continually keep linking to them on here.

I really didn't know about the blogs.. I look at biogs periodically, but most are irritatingly prolix and often totally boring. My site is just pictures in a form easy to view. I keep the prose to a minimum.

You live in paradise. Beautiful area and you have a wonderful garden. Use more mulch if possible.

How long does that film go on for? It sounds interesting but a bit hard to watch as the sound is coming out differently from how the guy's mouth moves! I thought it was Recreating Eden at first which I've heard of and watched a bit of on You tube, but that's something different, think that was a TV series in Canada?

The damn film seems to go on forever. It took me four sitting before I actually made through it and you cannot fast forward. At first I thought it was the whole series of Coronation Street retro into one period.

The theme as I mentioned other than the religious bit is well worth the effort to actually see it through. You have to take the good with the bad.

Durgan, I've updated my blog with some garden photos. Couldn't put too much narrative on as they've gone and changed the website and I couldn't work out how to put the text where I wanted it. D@mn website's almost as bad as FB. Every time I go there they've changed how it works.

Durgan I am pretty dumb when it comes to this forum/ blogging stuff. But whenever I see a post you have put I find it time consuming because I don't know a quicker way to do stuff.
What I mean is, if you "point to " a high-lighted thingumy I can see lots of photos and I am tempted to look at each one but.....the thing I don't know how to do is quickly get back to "selfsufficientish" if I do the back arrow I have to see every photo in reverse order.

I don't mean to be critical just observational.

That is the forums fault. My link is just to the pictures and it should open in a new window, but the forum removes the formatting. It is an irritant for sure and only happens on this forum. I am suprised that this was not fixed long ago.

Opening in a new window would give you the option of closing the picture window and defaulting back to the forum. Now if you close the window you also close the forum because they are one and the same.

It is a case of the right church but the wrong pew.

ahh yes, i know this one trinder! what you do is right click on durgan's (or any link) and select 'open in new tab'. then on finishing viewing the pics just close off that tab continue from where you were in the forum.

If you're using a Mac you can press ctrl and click, that does the same thing.
