went to lottie this am in the rain,weeds growing a bit.picked about 4lb pound runner beans marrows courgettes french beans.lettuce spring onion etc.tonight we are having lettuce,toms,beetroot,spring onion,cuecumber,potatoes all from the allotment and garden with some smoked gammon its a satisfying to have grown all the veg salad stuff.a year and a bit what a transformation its amazing, i sang songs in the rain.i have my first batch of fresh horsemanure arrived while on holiday quite a good load and not bad for a tenner.have some more coming.from somewhere else too.will leave it for 7-8 months.

went today to lottie weeded some of old boys lottie ,then some on the other oldboys lottie,picked about two pounds of runner beans picked some spuds,got a chance of allotment next to me its overgrown, but may share with a fellow allotmenteer.i want to buy a sythe but cant find a supplier any ideas

Not sure if this is the sort of thing you've got in mind, Dave; they look a bit weird to me, especially the short handled thing - can't really see how you could make life easy for yourself using that.

Also, now I come to look at it, a bit bleedin' expensive - I would hope they are excelent quality at Ã‚Â£120 and more.

G'Day Guys,

when I was over in Belgium last Christmas, I bought myself a scythe, they seemed to be availble in most hardware shops for much less that that, I think about 50 euro.....

The best shop was the one by the farmers union called Aveve (I think)

well my wife and i went to allotment.ii put another row of leeks in she weeded lots we picked runner beans,marrows courgettes,cooking apples and blackberrys.blackberry and apple crumble tonight yum.a good day.

well me and the wife been down today picked some rhubarb,apples.blackberrys,runner beans,.marrows.she did loads of weeding i weeded me 5 rows of leeks and weeded the old fellas allotment too,sow a good deed and all that.well i have a load of manure for a tenner and a person who has stables bringing it for free so it can all go on top of each other as its fresh lol.

well people say this year is bad for beans but i have plenty, today i picked beans marrow courgettes bartered a marrow for some carrots.dug up some spuds, my pumpkins went out in june but are little other peoples are massive something i need to get right next year.but the timing on me other crops seems ok not bad for first year ,did a bit of work on allotment 2 which i have half of,pulled thistles out weeds made to piles.will clear two thirds and spread weeds on other third to kill and suppress weeds.well do a bit every other day my other plot is fairly clean but has some weeds in the veg rows but not alot,weeds seem to be slowing down now

well i cant write all what we done but we have amother allotment sharing with me and allotment neighbour nr bye we have cut all overgrown weeds down started digging it over all in just over a week so i am getting some digging practice in lol.been to the cotswolds took some veg to my sister and husband and swapped it for eating apples off their orchard and plums, there apples are all old english vatietys so im happy the weather here is making the runners rampant but i dont m,ind i eat a pound or so with my dinner lol.

hi folks i been busy on hols visiting family etc.i have two allotments now i share a second with a friend we have had it 11 days cut all the weeds down thistles etc and a gigantic rotten bean row, its now cleared amd we are digging it through its 100ft by 30 ft we are half way already i am shattered but i want to push on ,,me marrows are getting big and everyone is benefitting and loads of runner beans.its raining as we speak.i want to grow more spuds.picasso seem to have done well as a maincrop i didnt do them but i will next year.
my good wife has helped me on me other allotment.
