what would be your dream home?

Houses built into hills! I can help thinking of this whenever someone says about them....

It is a good idea though, something like 80% heat retention I think that you can even do without central heating it your house is built into a hill. - I could be very wrong though.

Here Dave fancy moving in together, that's pretty close to the mark!.

To add further I love the modern barns made of green oak, so that would be the construction material. 3 other must haves:
Woodland for foraging, fuel and just cos I love woods
Stream/river, food and power
Wild flower meadow cos they're rare and beautiful
And close to the sea.

Sounds good to me Cheezy, It would have to be a coastline you can swim in, at least in the summer anyway. Just need a few more people and a few thousand and we got ourselves an eco-community.

Thats an idea, tell you what we should sell the idea to the BBC, a group of people getting together to start up a commune. We could get them to help pay for some of the costs etc, . Shirlz you an Dave are in, perhaps we can all teach each other how to build different houses etc, Muddy can do his straw, etc

We'll call it:

My ideal place would be near the sea, built of wood and sustainable materials, with solar panels, an AGA and lots of garden with an orchard.

It would have to be nice an light and well insulated as I am a total woos when it comes to being cold.

I would like some nice like minded neighbours that don't live too close but close enough to get a cup of sugar if I needed it! And vice versa of course.

That might help a little - I think with my bank balance the way it is I could buy a single straw-bail towards the building two at a stretch. Might be a few years off yet but it's nice to dream.

actually...they're recruiting at the moment for Castaway...i applied citing my eco-friendliness and selfsustainability dreams as reasons.

I said that i wanted to help create a self suffucient community and grow vegetables (but someone else would have to kill the animals...)

So...if everyone applies, you never know! They might see the sense in giving Andy and Dave their own series (can we all guest star...?!!)

Eco-Big Brother that would be fantastic- can you imagine it (in a Northern accent) - "10.30 am Jane is in the compost toilet, Marcus is using the solar shower and Steve is tending to the vegetables" .

They did keep chickens and bake their own bread in the first series but they dropped that idea by the time the next one came around.

Good luck with Castaway, it's a year long thing if you get it isn't it!?

I think if me and Andy ever get our own series we'd do our best to get as many SSishers in as we can (only willing ones of course).

Castaway is a year. I don't expect to get anywhere to be honest, i'm not explosive enough, and i'm not a skinny thing who'll walk around in a bikini...

it's a nice dream though...i'll let you know what happens. If i do get through, i expect every SSHer to watch!! (and smuggle me in seeds and hints and recipes of course!)
