perm marker comes off very smooth surfaces like glass with a scrub of the green scrubby cloth

I use silver perment marker it look good on the store shelves and it just comes of with the washing up and a scouring pad. If you want to give it as a gift write on a nice ribbon and tie it round the jar/bottleThomzo wrote:I've stopped sticking labels on. Annoyingly the labels which I buy to label my own jams and chutneys are really hard to remove too!
It looks really novel when giving as a gift as well.
It's easier with bottles than jars but if you tie it tight at the bottom of the screw thread it's usually OK.

We have used the 'sticky stuff remover' for years and it gets so many things off.
You can get it from the cleaning product catalogues that sometimes pop through the door in the UK (Can't remember whether its Kleeneze or Betterware) Its just about the only thing I ever do buy from them and it lasts a long time, so they will never get rich from me

Milly, an easy idea for Labels.
Normal paper, with either your writing, or printed off, and just use normal Pritt-stick. Holds wondersfully, and comes off in about a minute in hot water. Bottle cleans easily, and if you dry the label, you can re-use them next year.

Nailvarnish remover works really well on glass, but don't use it on plastic as it will often disolve the plastic.
