Can the beetroot bread be made by hand too?

Am making beetroot brownies at the moment - they smell lovely!

Hi Thomzo,

I'm deffo going to give the beetroot bread a go, but it will have to be a gluten free version so I'll let you know how it goes, as most gluten free loaves tend to be a bit 'cakey' some work really well the fruit loaf types as they are naturally a bit heavier on texture. So the beetroot should work well - thats my prediction anyhow I'll let you know the results!

I am trying to convert your beetroot recipe.

How much is 13 oz like compared to a cup.

You see I am a lazy bugger and don't like to pee around with mesuring weights.

Given that the amount of flour needed for a recipe can change drastically from batch to batch, I usually ignore the flour measurements, and just add it a spoonful at a time until the dough looks right.

Took some practice with my breadmaker so that it wouldn't flip the flour out as I added it, but it works.

Crikey this is such a coincidence. I haven't made beetroot bread for at least 6 months as I only make it when I get beetroots in my organic box. Yesterday I found some grated beetroot in the freezer so decided to make it again. And here you all are talking about it. Needless to say the bread has all gone and the breadmaker hasn't even been cleaned yet

It is my favourite although I always seem to make carrot at the moment as I always have loads of carrots.

Cheers
Zoe

Always wanted a breadmaker but just never got around to it, so I might just get off my butt and get one now. Whats on the market these days that's considered a good buy (North America market)? I have seen one in Costco, but it looks like it also makes small loaves (as per the OP'ers machine), and not sure if this is a bad or good thing?

This is the one I saw at costco - bread maker. Its Cuisinart which is not one of my favorite brand names.
