Yes I'm always poring over various veg books too. I even try and keep a journal of what I've been doing, but that has fallen by the wayside...thanks for offering to pass on moon info, isn't it a full moon around now? Does this have any bearing on what work to be doing?

I suspect there are slightly different interpretations so I can only go by my book, which says it's more to do with whether the moon is travelling upwards or downwards in our skies, and then what constellation it's heading through. It's descending at the moment, which is generally a good time for taking cuttings, improving the soil, thinning and planting, harvesting root veg and for pruning. It's also today just moving into virgo which is particularly good for root crops. So my plan is to see if my new carrot and turnip seedlings need thinning, and if I can find room plant out some leeks which are sitting in a pot at the moment and not very happy about it!
Hope that wasn't too long-winded :geek:

Yes this sounds similar to the book I've got buy a chap called RJ Harris - there's also a website www.moongardening.fsnet.co.uk.
Of skinny leeks, I planted out mine a couple of weeks back, looking very sorry for themselves. Today they look great now that they've had a chance to relax and put stretch their legs a bit. So don't panic!
