I work for Fedex. I'm an associate Export Clearance Broker. Until something better comes along, or i can get off my arse and save money properly to open my own piercing studio (i've done a year's training, and i've got one course left - when i can afford to do it...),
Until then...i'm stuck in a job that i don't like, one that disagrees with my ethics and treats me as a worker rather than a person.

yes the discount is quite good, but i work for a large company so its a bit of a McJob really. luckily my boss is good and lets me get away with a lot, like not wearing uniform on weekends and keeping my piercings in. which strictly is not allowed.not as exciting as everyone else....i work in an off license.
Sounds quite exciting to me.... you get staff discount I presume...

I'm full time at home now (by home I mean here or at the allotment). We can just about scrape through on one salary and since I stopped being a wage slave we've certainly noticed an improvement in our quality of life - husband too as I can get most things that don't involve heavy lifting done so he can come home and relax a bit after work.

Officially - scientific assistant. In reality - general dogsbody. I do everything from sticking my arm up to the elbow into the backside of a ewe to numbercrunching to making coffee and baking cakes when the big boss comes round... Oh, and telling everybody off for not separating their waste properly and leaving the lights on. I also act as painter and decorator, demolisher of livestock housing, occasional lab assistant, auditor (great! - the opportunity to tell others off yet again!
), general stirrer of sh*te... Somebody has to do it.
And in my spare time I'm mum to two goats and two kittens, not-very-successful gardener (worst year ever!), and constant knitter of socks and other woolly garments.

That's really not the worst of it. When they start to play rough and tumble they really damage things. They're big men and they just forget how heavy they are and how easy it is to break furniture and bones. Then when they get angryChickenlady wrote:QuakerBear wrote:Nine to five I'm a GDB (genneral dogs body)/ office manager / office mother (I have 16 men to look after, just this week I've had to stop one eating things he found on the floor and another from buying drugs on the net).

I suppose you could say I'm a damage limitation officer/safety enforcer.
One week their favorite game was trying to pour orange juice on each others head's.

I'm a Chartered Accountant
Well someone has to do it. And the money makes up for a lot of things. Actually, I quite enjoy my job (apart from the 5 years at Farepak that is). I tend to specialise in acquisitions and disposals of businesses which can be really challenging and interesting. What I don't enjoy is the stupidly long hours that tend to go with this job. That is why I usually do short term contracts. I've just started a 6 month contract which should end in early May. My plan then is to have a few months off in the summer.
Otherwise I am an occasional property developer, decorator, unsuccessful gardner, mum to 2 cats and 5 chickens, card maker. I've also been an interior designer, artist and dance teacher in the past.

At the moment, I am a full time isher, trying to keep body and soul together with what I can grow or trade for.
Otherwise, I've been a dishwasher/prep cook in a restaurant and a janitor in another restaurant.
Hopefully by next summer I'll be running a roadside stand here to sell a bit of the surplus for ready cash.
Disability doesn't go far.
