I have a stylised humming bird on my upper arm. I didn't have it done 'til I was 40. Only the one though - OH said more than one and I'd look like the back of a lavatory door! How rude!

Mum wouldn't let me when I was a teen and I couldn't afford it when first married. At 40 though I thought, who cares what people think? and went for it! I was president of my local Womens Institute at the time and they were amazed!

The humming bird is a pun on me - I have the iritating habit of singing to myself all the time. (Get it?) People have even said to me Do you have to be so happy!

Keep slapping on loads of savlon 'til it's healed. Lots and often, really works!

I realy want one but have been toying with different designs for years and havent come to a conclusion about what, where yet so am holding off. I want something considered and meanigfull and I think I need to wait till I am setteled enough to know what that is!
My G/f has a little blue butterfly on her inner wrist that is rather nice and not enough to cause prejcide.
She is shit hot to get another - a libra based one to go accros the back of the base of her neck. That i consider to be a little mad and im trying to make her realy think about it and its position first . . .

I could easily see how one could become addicted to getting new tats though - spent the greater part of my final to years of highschool 'tatooing' my self with ballpoints - new designs everyday - mostly based on pattern welded and damascene steel! got to the point where other people would get me to them for them during my lunch break.

Tastefully and thoughtfully done i think real tats are a good thing. for anything other than pure conviction though, i would say play with henna. 2-6 weeks then you can have a new one. every 2-6 weeks for the rest or ur life if you want!

Yup a NZ Skink :cooldude:
I love lizards of any kind anyways but the skinks here are so cute.
We have them running around our land and they're so smooth to the touch.

Oh dear. I think tattoos are common, even more so on women. To me they make a man look really ugly. Look what a complete mess Robbie Williams has made of himself.

Piercings are hideous unless they are in your ears, and one only per ear! I'd rather a person with facial piercings put a bag over their head.

Thankfully where I live I never have to encounter either, and on forums I don't have to see your ugly markings!

My life long dream is to have a row of ants walking ovr my foot!!! I would like one for each member of my family ( only immediate otherwise it would be more like an ants NEST!) I will get it done in the summer after our wedding as a sign of our new life. I know it sounds crazy but would be really fun to wear flip flops to T***O I'm sure there would be a good few people concerened!!
Behind every sucessful man is an fantastic woman!

I quite like tattooed women. Not the trendy type with with a celtic motif here or a devil there, but proper body art. A couple of ex-GF's had really serious and well-executed tattooing. (It was discreet in the sense that their hands, lower arms, lower legs and necks were clear, but as for the rest, think complete or almost complete tapestries. Lovely.)

I don't think I'd persuade the OH to get even one, though.

On the more unusual side, a male poet I used to to readings with had the words of his favourite poems tattooed on his body.

Having gotten my tats in my youth, I regret them now because of what they portray me as to the general public :drunken:. Fortunately, they are above sleeve length and are hidden during job interviews and church. I hate having to explain to my sisters' children what they are and why I got them. I believe people should be free to choose what happens to their own body...period. It is the ONLY thing that you can say is yours without exception. That being said, I dislike tats on women because I think a womans skin is probably the most beautiful thing there is. Imagine nibbling on a beautiful womans neck and opening you eyes and seeing "Property of Knuckles" written in flames.

Tattoo ink nowadays is made in such a way that it is more easily disolvable with lasers. No more scraping the skin from beneath.
Experience is what you get immediately after you need it.

Fairly ambivilent really, I know it's boring.

My little sister's quite heavily done though, she's young, pretty and very, very shy so I actually quite admire her courage in showing them off when so many people react adversely to tattoos on women. She's doing her own thing and I'm glad.

If I got one I'd have a wedding ring tattooed on.

Fee, you sound really cool, can I hang around with you so I look cool too?

I'd rather regret the things i did do than the things i didn't.

I'm also working towards owning my own Body Modification studio.

I think that small and subtle are nice, and so are massive back/chest pieces.

I don't like 'pierced for pierced sake', or 'tattooed for tattoos'. I have 40 piercings, but you wouldn't know it to meet me.

I think that Body modifications are great for individuality and for artistic purposes. I don't like them done to get one up on someone else, or to look agressive. i won't employ anyone who is over tattooed, or over pierced. Even though it will be a body mod studio.

Tattoos are permanent, and i do regret one of mine. It was a spur of the moment decision, ad it was done by a bad tattooist. However, i love the other three, and i have plans for many more. Even if i reach the age of 89, and my tattoos are faded and drooped, i will look at them and be pleased that i did them when i could. I'd rather think that they weren't such a good idea later on, than regret not doing it in the first place.
i agree and am in a similar situation. i have scars all over the place including my face from old piercings (although i still have a few left in that will never ever get taken out)

i do regret one of my tattoos because it was a spur of the moment thing and doesnt sit quite right. but then again most of the time i just forget about it.

generally im not that bothered about them going wrinkled because im going to get wrinkled regardless. so i'd rather have something that looks great now. to be honest i dont really see why its such a big deal. its the person inside that counts!

My son has tattooed most of mine fortunately he is a multiple award winner and they are on me, they are biker tats skull ect but the clarity of the work is outstanding he even covered over my old ones so the colours are bright.
And i must say it is an addictive thing personly i don't find it painfull but when you have worked outside all your life your skin toughens
Jane loves me for what i am and not for what is painted on my body  thank goodness cos there is a lot of body to cover

here it is, the tat that started the topic.

it's only a day old so it's a bit sore.

those of you that like tats enjoy,

those of you who don't look away,

either way it's here to stay.

Bet that was a painful tattoo, feet are supposed to be the most painful area to have done.

It looks very pretty.
