You know, I hadn't even considered golf balls. That's going in the book.
Red, the films last five or six years but the metal frame is the most expensive bit and they go on pretty much forever.
Advice on a Green House please.

are polytunnels noisy?
do they have the same 'greenhouse effect' as glass? glass is more see-through...

HW our garden is about par 1 from a caravan site. One of our green houses had a vine and a nectarine in it. The greenhouse was home made using various double glazed panels by the previous owner who had his own joiner business. I guess they were left over from different jobs.hedgewizard wrote:You know, I hadn't even considered golf balls. That's going in the book.
One morning we found a golf ball inside the greenhouse and then spotted a perfect round hole in one of the roof glazing panels. We did not get round to replacing it and was both amazed and disappointed on discovering, after a very high wind, that the greenhouse had exploded

It was not the best of construction despite the previous owners joinery skills and the wind must have howled in through the golf ball hole until the pressure inside was enough to blow some of the panes out. There was hardly any glass inside the thing, but loads all over the lawn. Took ages to clear up.
We dismatled the remainder fo the glazing and measured up the brick base to order a new frame but sods law, the previous owner had made it an odd size to suit the glazingpanels he had collected so a standard frame won't fit
