Wulf - thanks for that, I think I'll put my washing up water on the more established stuff (which includes weeds at the mo! :( ) at the end of the garden & use water butt water for my more precious herbs & veggies. Not that I need to be concerned about watering for the time being - we're on the 4th day of rain here!

Marshlander - thats good to hear.

And to everyone else - I DIDN'T say Ecover was Evil! I use a huge range of their products at home and am happy with them. I was referring to the washing up liquid not being full of nice things, given that my hands have dried out after using it a bit more and a chat with a lady who stocks both Ecover & other products, its worth a swap to try something else, IMHO!

As to ecover - I emailed them when the subject came up on another thread recently. They replied promptly that they absolutely do do use any GM products or anything tested on animals.
Do do, or do not? GM is what was worrying me, so I'm glad to hear this.

Sorry, my bad. I was using the word evil as shorthand. But I'm still wondering what the not nice things are, seeing as they aren't GM ingredients. I have to say, I've not found the washing up liquid to be drying, and as I say, I use it as a base for homemade shampoo/bodywash. Try adding just a tiny amount of olive oil to the bottle and shaking it up well if you're having trouble. Of course, that would apply to any brand, not just Ecover
Harm None!
