I hope she is doing OK and that you get it sorted.

I have had infections of this sort 3 times - first time, I was 17 and didn't know what it was, I stopped drinking water as it hurt to pee... on day 3 I had to phone the hospital from my bed as I couldn't move - I was taken in by patient transport ambulance (I lived alone at the time)
2nd time, I was at A+E within 5 hours of first symptoms - had to pee (crying in pain) while an old man on the other side of the curtain was talking to me :pale:
3rd time I marched into my doctors surgery and begged for anti-biotics immediately... the very nice (male) doctor wrote me a prescription and through the sample I gave away, as he said it was daft to test when by the time the results came back it would be so much worse.

I don't know why I suffer this badly (possibly because I have damage from that first time) I still get sore kidneys on a regular basis.

Being from the west of Scotland the health services are often too busy dealing with toddlers ODing on their parents methadone... so before anyone asks, no I don't know if I have any long term damage...

I've tended to view cystitis as 'one of those things', it happens now and again, one of the jolly things about being a woman etc etc. But I've heard so many awful stories in the least few days that without (I hope!) sounding all nanny state, I wonder if parents of girls should be made aware how fast damage can occur to the kidneys and that this is something that mustn't be left? I know a girl of 13 who has permanent slight incontinence due to kidney damage as a young child, it's shocking that it need only take one bad bout.

Anyway, there were no squeaks when P went to the loo this morning, the yoghurt's done and we should hear tomorrow if any anti-b's are needed. Thanks very much for all the advice :flower:

Be infinately glad she had that pain. I had a UTI that went completely symptomless, up till the moment it dropped me in my tracks. Still recovering from that.

Glad to hear LO is on the mend!

Mine was kid of like. Suddenly one day it hurt when I pee'd and seeing as I had just found out that my partner had cheated on me (with the towns biggest slut, she was pregnant and there was 14 guys who were possibly the father just for the week that she conceived  ) so I shot off to the doctor thinking I had an STI but no just a UTI but the doctor said I must of had it for over a month because the sample was mostly blood and pus (tmi sorry) and I was put on strong anti biotics for 4 days.

My sisters latest UTI went from her bladder up to her kidneys within 2-3 days, poor thing was in so much pain. She's better now thanks to anti biotics.

Anyway I'm glad the yogurt is doing the job and that she seems to be feeling better.

There have been some real leg-crossing stories. One of the benefits of this whole thing is that Dd has developed a passion for natural yoghurt with honey and banana and has had it for breakfast the last few days!
