Hopefully, if i resume my low fat / low carbs diet this week i will at least lose those extra 2 lb - and with any luck then continue downwards!
Could be water weight rather than real weight you have gained (typing like Yoda I am?) Chinese food is really salty and I find if I eat lots of salt suddenly I gain weight from water retention( or if it is because I have been eating too many salty chips it is becauseI am getting fatter).
if you are doing muscle building activities you may not see a loss on the scales (or even a gain) so if your clothes aren't tighter I wouldn't worry...

Well Big Al your advice of keeping weight loss in the forefront of my mind I think has helped. At least for this week which is good. I have been blogging my journey as a method of doing this for a week and have just lost gone from 18 stone 4 pounds down to 17 stone 7 pounds.

My aim like yours is to chip away (fat free chip of course  ) at the years, mine being 11 in total, since I started gaining the excess weight. I should weigh 10 stone 7 so I have a long way to go, but I feel I'm in the right space to do it now, whereas I wasn't really in January.

You are right that binge eating is a sign of other things , I have always used it to comfort myself when times get tough or I have a bad day. I just suppose I have had quite a few of those  , but with I also know when I'm being told to shut up. I had thought this thread was meant to be a tool to support each other, I didn't realise mentioning binge eating as the cause of my weight gain would cause offence, so I apologise to anyone I have offended as it certainly was not my intenetion.

Anyway, I'll bow out of this one now  Good luck to the rest of you who are trying to loose weight.

Hi all, I am jumping on the bandwagon.

I have had a moment of strapless bridesmaid dress induced terror  and have joined Slimming World.

Am full of enthusiasn and think this is a better eating plan than any of the others out there, due to not having to limit carbs so much.

Time for confessions...am tinkering on the edge at 12st12lbs, target for size 12 dress is 10st7.

So count me in - salad nicoise (minus dressing) for lunch and lean mince spag bol and green salad for dindins.

Just have to get OH to STOP BLOODY BAKING for ten minutes, and I might stand a chance.

I haven't given up, but I think people must be bored with my posts. When I have nothing to report. I still feel enthused to lose weight, and am "power" walking every morning - the dog has a lovely figure now!- am eating better, but am still a size 16! I think big Al did a wonderful job with us all, but in the end it up to us!. pbf.

Yippee! Pleased to announce 4lbs off at fatclub last Wednesday (the first week is always the best). Am running 3.6 miles twice a week and one other session at the weekend (last time ran 5 miles but might do bikeride this weekend) which helps.

I am not on commission honest, but am finding Slimming World excellent to follow - so far haven't been hungry once.

Not sure how you do the fancy footnote with details of how much you have lost, so here is a manual attempt:

Start weight: 12st12 Current weight: 12st8 Pounds lost:4 Pounds to target:28

Good luck everyone!

An odd week on the scales. One morning I weighed 12 stone 4 then in the evening after eating healthily all day I weighed 12 stone 9. Am back down to 12 stone 4 now and much relieved. I have decided to give up on using the scales and go by the fit of my clothes. Currently a 14 is a little loose on the waist but a 12 is a little too tight so will stick with it until the 12 is a comfortable fit.
I kept a food diary for a week and the amount of snacks I was eating during the day was incredible. Crisps, biscuits at work, roasted peanuts etc and sometimes in the evenings up to three large glasses of wine. I've put a stop to all of it. Don't miss the wine at all but do miss the crisps.
I've also realised how many calories there are in humous-way to many!!! so that's gone too.

Hi Misty,
It's bad enough, in fact a cardinal sin to weigh every day let alone twice a day. Please, please don't do it.

If you think about it water weighs 1kg per litre so if you drink 1.5 lts of water a day, ( I drink up to 4 lts) a day then you will weigh an extra 3.3 pounds.
It can take up to 4 days for food, especially red meat to pass through from mouth to waste so if you have an 8 ounce steak ...........

Using clothes is a good way to tell you if you are losing weight but scales, if they are a good accurate pair help as a tool but do not be a slave to the scales. If I wash my jeans then they are always tight first time on ...... well that's my excuse but you know what i mean.

Good luck to all who are still continuing with this group and those who have fallen by the "weigh" side come back and start again we are all in this together.

STILL Big Al.

Folks,

Keeniebean recently posted that she was leaving the group because she though her posts were upsetting people. I pm'd her to see who had upset her and it was ME !

It turns out the end of the paragraph below was what I believe upset Keeniebean in that she thought I was telling her not to put on this site what was causing her to binge eat.

Binge eating usually has a deeper problem and people who binge eat need to address this problem first. People know to themsleves what is bugging them and that's not really something for this site in general I guess.

What i was aiming at was that it is not necessary to bear one's soul on a public forum if you don't want to but it came across as me telling KB NOT to bear her soul etc. If you read virtually any of my posts then they are of a personal, heart on the sleeve nature so I have no right to tell anyone directly or indirectly not to post. Add to that i'm only a member and have no responsabillities so I have offered Keeniebean my humble appologies and do so again here for upsetting her and hope she returns soon.

It won't serve any point for people to take sides so please don't but if I've upset anyone else that I to offer you my sincere appologies. Weight loss is a bitch and a life long struggle. If we can help each other then we must.

Take care all,

Alan aka Big Al.

Just read Big Al's post and just want to say that I think he has done a wonderful job with us all, we are still here and it is nearly May! Don't know if we are much lighter, but we are all more aware of what we eat i'm sure. We all have problems and this forum is a great way to unburden yourself, because nobody is judgemental. Anyway, nuff said! pbf.
