a kind friend gave me a lift with my plants down to the allotment.
dug over an area and put in dwarf french beans plants
hoed runner bean row(i have quite a few)
put in 50 celebration plant runners then sowed seeds by each plant for a later crop.
planted 2 turks turban(ta boffin lol)
4 butternut squash
2 pumpkin hwt
harvested some red baron onions early for salad
lettuce
raddishes
cabbage
rhubarb.
need to do some weeding at some point soon but got in the stuff now
so just some more beetroot spring onion raddish french bean etc to sow later

planted my celeriac out, and green sausage tomatoes. sowed the last of my runner beens.

fightint a losing battle against slugs.. they are even eating our potato plants. I pulled a radish and it came up with a slug from underground..

pulled some lovely perfect radishes from teh gh tho - little bit more controlled in there. hmiself tells me we have a toad who is standing guard over our squash plants.. seen in the same cornr of the patch each night. we like mr toad. (cos he likes slugs)

Finished roofing the shed (o/h did!).
Planted a couple of courgette plants, sown another row of lettuce & broad beans.
Potted up some butternut squash plants as well.
I thought we had a good day.

courgettes are going out - and planted a gherkin plant too. - sowed more borlotti. found the snamil hiding under the pots that has been eating my beans as they germinate...

planted out some borlotti and dwarf french beans, and more peas. founds the butterflies have already been visiting my red cabbages, and so rubbed out some eggs. pulled more radishes, planted more sweetcorn.
found a slug or snail has eaten my basil - which is on my kitchen windowsil - on the inside! - luckily have more in gh.

planted out sweetcorn - Minipop and Ovation varieties.

Still got to plant the squash out and do most of the jobs on my 'to do' list before.

Good news is that i've got most of next week off work! Lets hope the weather's good enough or planting!!

Sowed some turnips, and some more runner beans and peas (i don't know what happened to my runner beans - they never seemed to come up. Maybe the slugs ate the sprouts).

I spend every day examining the mole damage and stomping down their runs, pushing veggies and flowering plants back into the soil and filling in holes.

I'm thinking about giving up, my husband is thinking about every which way to kill them.

we used a solar powered mole scarer... does seem to work.

I live in a flat and adore gardening so life is very frustrating to me! HOWEVER my grandfather is blind and very disabled and used to have the best gardens (front and back) in our town, his name is known all over the town. He just called and said he hates seeing his gardens wasting away and gave me the go-ahead to use ALL of it for ANYTHING I LIKE!!!

I have spent the last half hour drawing up plans and sketches, tomorrow am going to the garden centre near us (we are on first name terms already!) to get EVERYTHING i need! SQUEALS LOUDLY Yay!!!

having lost 2 rows of borlotti and 2 rows of dwarf french beans to the frost.. ack... have been out planting yet more. thinking of buying more seeds....

planted last of my courgettes and last of my tomatoes. spares went in a peat free organic wassit grow bag as could not bare to waste them and dont have compost yet as new here.

I have just tidied up the plot of all the rubbish and weeds. The spare ground I have sown with a green manure crop of mustard.
I bought garlic to plant out which I will be doing this afternoon. I will have about 130 cloves. I normally save some from the previous season, but was working on the house at garlic planting time. Just waiting for some elephant garlic to arrive from the nursery. Also spreading new sawdust on the paths.

Got the weekend off work, and the weather is nice, so might get plenty done. (fingers crossed)

Have also got to string fences for the squash to climb up. Got to find somewhere for the courgettes and marrows to go when they get a bit bigger too... They might have to go on the roof. need growbags for the roof.

Started on SSISH flag for BGG! It looks really good so far. Will post pics when its done (we've got pics through the stages too...its all exciting!).

Stardust - congrats on your garden!!

M3 - dont know if u know or not but moles hate any kind of noise. If u put something that causes a constant sound down one of the holes it will keep the mole at bay. We have successfully used the musical thingie inside those horrid birthday/xmas cards. Might be worth a try?

i read once that putting some of those windmills that kids have down the hole and leaving it would work. Don't know if it does though - never had to try it - never had moles!

Dogs do a good job of getting rid of them...
