No, I wouldn't say that, but inevitably it will create a preconception in some people's minds. If you named your children Araminta and Tarquin there would be an assumption you weren't living on the breadline, however wrong that assumption might be, and just the same kind of thing the other way round if they were Chardonnay and Jason. So, having offended everyone within sight...! Isn't it funny that when we hear a name that creates an instant image in our minds we don't think 'poor sod, what were their parents thinking of?' but instead project the negative feelings onto the person?

I knew I should have called her Lucinda, it might have given her a leg up! Although I'm not sure where

The only Lucinda I know likes to be called Cindy or Cin...which isn't quite as classy!

Our little one, born last week, turned out to be pink, so she's named Willow Mae.
Didn't want anything too conventional or too "out there".

When our eldest was on the way we had tried the bibliomancy method of naming. (Yeh, we're REALLY old hippies) You open the Bible and stick your finger on the page. First try came up with Lucifer, second was fleshpots.

In the end we called him Joe. (Hendrix was another scrapped option) Even now, at 37 he's referred to as Lucifer Fleshpots to his annoyance.

ROFL!!!

My parents had a similar way of trying to name my sister and I...they were so fed up of arguing about names that they decided to name each of us after the first advert they saw when they turned on TV. By rights, my name should be Harpic, and my sister should be Playtex. Sadly, in the end, they plumped for the far more conventional Jacqueline and Elaine.
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.
