Oh I got so sick of the half finished because something wasn't perfect (wind in the right direction.....) I decided instead of retiling the bathroom ourselves (we could) I'd pay a friend who does it for a living but was short of work.
For my thoughfulness I had to pay upfront, got put to the bottom of his list, done in 2 halves with chasing in between, the job has never been finished- still 3 tiles missing- I could have got that serivce from my OH!!! Wish I had done it myself!
Worse still he wants to tile the downstairs bathroom floor but there is a complication with getting the existing carpet up .....sinking feeling approaching. Think I may just take a days holiday and rip it up!

Warn your "friend" that other friends have seen his unfinished work and heard how long he was taking, and they'd taken what they saw as a warning never to hire him even though you told them how good he was at it, and you're afraid you may have just cost him some customers because you hadn't thought to hide the missing tile space, and oh dear you didn't mean to hurt his business.....
When he realizes that his slacking hurt him he'll most likely finish fast.

If only....he's so well known for it, I swore he'd never do another job for me but was trying to help him out- for the LAST time! Still he obviosuly intends coming back , he's left his tile cutter behind
I've been a DIY coward recently, must get stuck back in to save me from these frustrations....and drown out the obsessive hoovering from my OH (OCD

)

Actually was planning to use it for teh downstairs

Besides I've got the missing tiles, they just weren't put on the wall
One part of me says just do it, the other says he should finish the job, after all I did pay him

and in this case he's not even my husband

Peggy Sue - I'd follow your signature line there and just do it. Then it's done and you can feel happy, rather than getting annoyed every time you see the gaps on the wall!

Sounds like the perfect wife!

Does she drink beer too?
Sadly dhe doesn't but the narking thing is that's all she does !! Oh I mislead, she uses the hoover very badly but all the time she does it hurtds my ears / hearing aids with the whine [from the hoover] that would do many a good housewife proud.... then I even have to do that over when she's out.

Actually (she says shamefacedly) it's my husband who does the hoovering here too.

I told him the hoover bit me one day (which it did, because while I was running it across the carpet the metal pipe came out of the head and jammed into my big toe) and I've never done it since.
He doesn't iron though. Then again, neither do I

Oh mine loves ironing

and he also cooks sometimes, always does the dishwasher and the other washing up and cleans out the wood stove every day as well as hauling in all the logs. As I'm a lazy cow when it comes to cleaning the house the only regular jobs I do are the laundry and cleaning out the ducks/chooks every day. So he actually does a lot more than me! oops.
And I've just edited this as I've belatedly remembered that he actually works for a living too to keep me in the 'style' I've become accustomed to

. Double oops.

Yes you can have him MMM, he hoovers, washes up, irons, cooks, goes to work too- but beware the OCD, you can have too much hoovering, too many straight lines.....personally I'd fall into the lazy cow category for household chores, but only coz I love the outside chores so it has to be peeing with rain bigtime to confine me on a weekend.
I'm not ungrateful (really

) but he need guyidance o the best use of his energy I feel!!!
Dressing up to go out is the best fun, we rarely do, but on the occassion we make it to the pub I throw on a pair of jeans that haven't got mud on, or so much mud (if there are any) and my coat, he spends about an hour trying on everything in the wardrobe

Just for a pint!

Ha! When Andy does housework, he won't actually put anything away - because usually I've left it out for a reason - or if I haven't I invent a reason

but yes, he straightens everything... so it's all in neat lines on the tops - then he'll sit & watch TV & one hand is constantly reaching out to straighten the coaster, ashtray, ciggy pack.... then I walk by with a casual flick of the finger - and don't even mention pictures on the walls! He's better than a spirit level
He's banned from ironing - mind, I also have a self imposed ban on the funny pointy thing.... I must admit, I do miss my tumble dryer.... and being green doesn't get a look-in if he washes up - he separates the dishes into it's stacks... then a fresh bowl of very sudsy water for each stack... I load the dishwasher before he gets a chance!!
See, I'm not complaining here about the things he does... I'm sure that he is driven mad by the fact that I can walk past a dusty shelf day after day after day & still not notice, but all in all, we rub along quite well together.... although I'd quite like to be able to follow him into the bathroom without eating his bodyspray once in a while

My father used to straighten my pictures every time he came round. He wasn't OCD, he just liked picking faults and putting them right. He stopped when one time he came round I had hung them all upside down. I think he got the message
