Sorry - going back to the OP
Hawthorn - you want to make sure your peelings and tea bags and such that you're putting into your compost is chopped up small - it makes it easier to break down and do all that lovely composting stuff, especially egg shells.

Obviously you can rip open teabags, I just get my kitchen scissors and snip all the peelings etc etc into my little compost tupperware tub, pop the lid on and empty every evening.

Just a little tip I wanted to share with you.

Just picked up on this thread and noticed nobody's mentioned peeing in the compost heap. What's happened? Somebody ALWAYS mentions peeing in the compost heap. Oops sorry, back off to the wee wipes thread. :glasses11: w.

Amazing how compost always gets so much 'talk' going don't you think!

I try to compost almost everything (everything either us, the dog or the horse won't eat) but I do wonder if green potatoes are a good idea as they grow :?
Am I risking blight, using up all my goodness?
Do I just carry on composting them til the slugs eventually eat them?
Is there actually a better use for green potatoes I have never thought of?

Regardless I do love composting and am really close to peeing on it
