Can't - I'm on lambing duty until 2am! Otherwise I'd love to...

Just spoken to a colleague/neighbour: his wife's friend works at a local filling station and knows that at least a dozen of them all around us are out of petrol. Probably all bought out by idiots like those ralley drivers (and the spectators), because they MUST HAVE THEIR FUN - it's a basic human right, isn't it? - nevermind that others can't get to work, or might not get the sheep fed out on the hills...

Actually, I feel an article for the local newsletter coming on.

I have to say that I sympathise - especially in the light of a BBC reporter who prefaced her input with the words "We've been driving around here for an hour ..."

Errmm ... people who need the fuel but might be having difficulty getting it? Oh, I see now - no, not the rally drivers - that's why I made the comment about the search of the BBC reporter ...

My neighbour was buying fuel at Huntly yesterday and noticed a farmer she knows vaguely was putting fuel into a livestock trailer. She put her £30 of fuel in her car, paid for it and when she came out the the farmer was still pouring fuel. She went around the back to have a peek and he was filling a 1,000-litre IBC!

Okay, he has a big farm with a lot of vehicles used on road for which he can't use red diesel, but buying 1,000 litres is a little extreme.

He'll probably be selling it on at £2 a litre to the unfulfilled panic buyers!
