[quote="boboff"]I agree that you should be able to have hetro Civil Partnerships.
I am at odds on the marraige thing a bit though, given that a church wedding is in essence a blessing for child rearing, I really can't see the point/need for it as a gay person.
I don't really wan to harp on about, this but child rearing is not always child "bearing" if you get my drift. But I have no idea what "the bible /AKA the church" says about raising someone elses' child ?

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

Yeah, I think I'll pass on that thanks...sleepyowl wrote:That's generally because those things aren't generally considered 'news worthy opinions' as it is not an organised group, but I have come across it. Perhaps you need to hang out in gay bars more if the cheesy shite music that they generally play doesn't drive you completely insane & make you want to gouge your ears out with a rusty teaspoongregorach wrote:OK, all opposition that actually gets any traction... I was refering to the increasing tendancy for Humanists to come on the radio etc argueing the toss with aforesaid prats in hats.It justs gives them a credence they don't have.Joe Public ,by and large couldn't give a flying for established religeon,or increasingly, marriage for that matter. What'sthe average turnout for a CoE service? 2tenths of sod all,and they're all older than me.Where are they going to be in 10 or so years?gregorach wrote:
"Aggressive" atheism, eh? You getting atheists banging on your door on a Sunday morning or something? I think you might mean "atheists who don't shut up and go away just because someone says they should"... We have as much right to participate openly in civic life, to state our beliefs and to expect them to be respected, as anybody else. Let me know when you've got some atheist in a funny hat telling you that you can't get married because he doesn't like your choice of partner, and that in fact to allow it would cause the end of civilisation as we know it, and I'll take your complaint a little more seriously.
There will always be some attracted to 'house' churches, but in many ways they are as opposed to the established church as those of different or no faith.OK,you've got to stand up for what you believe in,but you wouldn't waste your time in debate with Icke,Irving etc ,so why bother with this lot?

Still in the House of Lords and still having an entirely disproportionate influence on public policy, unfortunately. Fix that and I'll be more than happy to ignore the lot of them.oldjerry wrote:What'sthe average turnout for a CoE service? 2tenths of sod all,and they're all older than me.Where are they going to be in 10 or so years?
