Okay here I am one full week in and so far so good. I have had no red meat so far and don't seem to crave it. When I made Spaghetti Bol for the family I had Spinach and Feta Raviolli with my own tomatoes ,garlic and herbs over the top. I have had 1 fish meal and 1 small serve of Tandori chicken.
I have some lovely vege patties in the freezer and will make Brown Rice and Walnut loaf tomorrow.
I have read almost all the posts in this thread as I have been extra busy this last week as well so I am only just catching up Thankyou to all those with personal experience it all helps.
I have some canned Borlotti beans can anyone suggest what I can make with them????

Well done Kimmysmum! I was vegetarian for a number of years and franky never felt better for it! (although I am happy to admit it was purely teenage rebellion as I detested most meat products and it appeared the only way to stop them being served up at mealtimes - and it worked...). I then joined the good old Royal Navy in 1990 and had to revert back to being an omnivore - the choice was extremely poor in the RN at the time (although it is much better now I believe).
We, as some of you will already know, raise our own pork, and have been trying to supplement this with our own chicken. Beside that, I have weakness for mince & tatties, but a lot of our food is vegetarian in theme - mostly from the excellent Sarah Brown's Vegetarian Cook Book, supplemented with recipes from good vegetarian friends, which brings me on to my original train of thought when I started reading this interesting thread:
Our good friends have been vegetarian for yonks. They are both healthy, and have incredible zest for life. They also have two very healthy wee bairns, one of 2 and another approaching 4. Both bairns seriously have their fingers on the pulse - the eldest regularly bowls me over with his advanced knowledge and reasoning (their house is a TV free zone and I am sure this plays part in their great character, but that would be seriously hijacking the thread!)
I have always meant to ask our friends at what stage their bairns will be able to choose whether to eat meat or not. Obviously they don't have a choice at the moment, but at, say, birthday parties, nursery, and soon, school, when one of them reaches for a sausage roll (or God forbid, a Dinobite
) - what will happen? The eldest, I am sure has worked out where our pigs end up, but when will he decide he wants to taste them, and what will the parents reaction be?

Thankyou Thurston for your wishes.
I am not finding it to difficult. Tomorrow will be the test as I am going out for lunch which I only do about twice a year so it will be interesting to see what this particular place will have for me to enjoy. I know they have a hot veg and salad bar.
Tonight we are haveing a lazy tea of Chips(Homemade) Eggs(Home layed) and good old Baked Beans Yum Yum
I am sourcing some good vege recipes at our local library this week as well
