I don't like broad beans, Flo (well I do when each bean has bean peeled - I can't bear the skin!) and we haven't grown any carrots because we get some every week in our veg box. Our raspberries and strawberries are only just ripening. The salad leaves went from cute to bolting in the space of a few days, presumably because of the cold, wet weather we've had throughout June and July.

Our broad beans are over now Flo, but we have carrots coming out of our ears, well maybe not literally. Trying 2 new varieties of carrot this year and they are both good enough to grow again next year.
Tomatoes are a bit of a disaster, all got blight due to 2 months of damp humid days.
Other than that, courgettes keep coming, sweetcorn is starting to be picked, broccoli and cauliflowers now and again, and runner beans as usual needing picking every day.
Like you GA we have sweet peppers, both red and yellow, and on the fruit side just started picking Discovery apples as needed and the black grapes are now blackish and sweet enough to have a few.

Broad beans, mainly... Some spinach, small courgettes, a few mange tout, beetroot leaf, and all sorts of berries. And there's a lettuce coming on, the sole survivor.

Courgettes, chard still, on to the second set of raspberries. Tomatoes are lagging behind, as are peppers

Cabbages, courgettes, dwarf beans, garlic, the last of the few onions I planted, spring onions, lettuce, kale. Peppers available but the kids want them red so waiting. Tomatoes just beginning to ripen.

I think this is the time of year when I have most - and what did I do today? Only went and bought a huge cauliflower... I couldn't resist. Wonderful, fresh, organic, local (of course!) - better than not being able to resist cakes...

My tomatoes still aren't ready. I'm worried the season will end before they fruit properly :S

I think today is the first time I'm having a mixed salad that's 100% from the garden. Including purple sprouting broccoli - a weird plant that was from last year, grew like heck into something resembling a triffid and when I finally decided to rip it out (it was all nice big leaves), I discovered a few purple bits coming out. So now it's still blocking half a raised bed, but at least it's producing something edible...

We sow our tomatoes, peppers in the first few days of the New Year, in heated propagators, Viper, to give them a head start. We have such a short growing season up here (we're definitely into autumn now) so we need to grab every bit of sunshine - and we often have lovely weather Feb/March/Apr. We only grow the short season varieties. Don't worry though - when we lived in Manchester we were still picking fresh tomatoes out of the greenhouse at Christmas.

Dad always moaned bitterly at the thought of growing PSB, ina. He said they took too long and too much space. My stepmum ignored him every year, tucking a plant or two wherever she could put them. He still grumbled but thoroughly enjoyed purple-sprouting broccoli with his Christmas dinner (along with new potatoes grown in a bucket).

Oh dear, that's twice I've mentioned the festive season. Maybe I'm looking forward to something a bit more exciting than lockdown!

Are you sure it's only autumn up there?

The Aberdeen lockdown has partially been lifted, so I'm back at work full time from next week. I'll probably regret it soon enough... Must, must, must use those last few days of freedom to work in the garden!
