'Rare' gales set to hit Britain

People across the UK are being warned to brace themselves for unusually stormy weather as high winds and heavy rain are forecast for Sunday.

The storms - with winds which could reach 65mph across northern Britain - are expected to peak around midday.

The worst affected areas are expected to be north Wales and northern England, but Northern Ireland and southern Scotland may also be affected.

BBC forecaster Tomasz Schafernaker said the weather was abnormal for June.

"Although it's not unusual to have this kind of weather during the winter it's rare to see this kind of gale this time of year," he said.

Watch out folks, the evil wind is coming across the UK, batten down the hatches

LoL, genuine warning honest

We have had the crappiest weather for months now, even Bilbao has been flooded, living in the mountains just off the Bay of Biscay we get winds like that monthly, sometimes for days on end. The weather here is more like a warmer version of Wales, which is great as it remains green all year round. Watching how the toms get on in the window box after near hurricane winds has been interesting, they seem quite smart plants, just lie down and then pick themselves up again when it has gone.

It's odd we seems to almost share the same weather as the UK, just take it in turns sometimes you get it first, sometimes we do, sometimes at the same time!! Only difference is that when the sun comes out it is a bit hotter here.
