sharpening seccuteers

no idea if i have spelt that right, but i am going on a basket making course next week and i need some sharp seccuteers. mine are so blunt they are useless. how do i go about sharpening them?

It depends a bit on what sort of
secateurs you have.
If they are the anvil type you have to be careful that you keep the straight edge on the closing (sharp) side.
If they are the cross over type it doesn't matter.
Either way, you need a small file or thin carborundum stone and rub the sharper blade where you can see that has been ground before.
If that doesn't make any sense or you don't have the tools, I would go and buy another pair

I guess it's a bit late for your course but if you don't have a file or sharpening stone, fine sandpaper wrapped round a bit of wood could be substituted.
