Whether we are getting round to having marmelade oranges as the fruit of the month or not - I thought I'd better post the recipe now, otherwise it'll be too late!

I picked this up in France; they made another version of it with green walnuts, but I can't remember any quantities - although they are a bit according to taste, anyway!

Here goes:

2 marmelade oranges - washed and sliced
100-200g raw sugar (or more if you like it sweet)
1 bottle of brandy
2 bottles of red wine

Leave for a few weeks, then drink like sherry. Or bottle first, if you don't want to drink it all at once... :drunken:

It is, if you like it slightly bitter!

I am not sure I could leave two bottle of red wine and brandy for long enough to make this :drunken: Thanks though ina will add it in with the article.

The trick is to buy the wine and brandy only when you've already got the oranges in the pot - and pour them on immediately! That way temptation isn't quite so great... (Guess what: I've got the oranges, and Saturday I'll go out to buy the booze.)

Sounds like it would lift the top of your head like a frisbee!

You are not supposed to drink it by the bottle, Nev! Just from small, posh sherry glasses, to increase your appetite before a meal! (As if I needed that...)
