as this is the first lamb born here and raised, eating only his mums milk and grass, and now, mostly in our freezer..

God I'm jealous and I don't even like lamb, but that looks fantastic.

I hate to say we are slightly wimpish, having got chickens now in the back garden for eggs I've not been able to think about eating it. Our kids (8 & 7) have said they are fine with it as long as we don't eat their ones (Kelly and Doreen), perhaps if they move away from the patio doors and stop staring in the house when we are having tea it might get easier to eat chicken again, who knows!

Nice to see one lamb laid out like that, I have read many times how much you get, but a photo is so much better.

there is offal as well - a whole liver, heart and you can see the kidneys and suet in the picture.

the joints - shoulders and legs should have been halved really, but I was not sure how big they would be. I'll know next time.

Super Job - that should keep you going for a while looks nicely butchered too

yes hopefully a rug too - that'll take a few weeks to process - getting it done for us. hopefully - as the system seems very vague...

it varies depending on teh size of the animal (or it does at our local abbatoir anyway), they do the killing and cutting and packing is optional. we opted for no packing, as that is easy to do, and it cost 22 quid something, for slaughter and chopping.

Hi that looks amazing (even though I dont actually eat lamb) I've been thinking about getting a couple of pigs for a while and will definately go ahead with it next year. When we were kids we used to get to rear a reckling pig and it would run around the garden with us like a pet dog. We were never bothered about it being butchered as we always knew what the outcome was going to be. My mums homemade sausages were brilliant and I've still never tasted any as good as hers.

yeh we want to get pigs - just raising weaners - just we have to sort out the pig run, and always always always something else crops up that takes away our time.. was sposed to be last spring... still maybe this year coming...
I did wonder if we would find it difficult to part with the lamb as he was the only one we had, and very friendly.. but we all of us knew why he was here, and actually it was just fine.
