I hail from Northamptonshire and was just wondering if any of you guys are near or travel near Northampton. There is a FANTASTIC cooperative shop just where the A45 and A428 cross. It's called Daily Bread - here is their website:

I go whenever I can and my Mum is nearly never out of the place!!! (apologies if you bump into her, she is certifiable!!!)

Myself and Dave are both from Northampton and our parents and many of our friends still live there. I love daily bread and always stock up on stuff whenever I am back. You have to mention the market as well the biggest market square still in everyday use in the country I believe.

My parents live on the eastfield/abington border and that is where I spent the first 20 years of life.

Do you ever go to the racehorse pub or the charles bradlaugh?

Blimey! Coincidence, huh! Well, I grew up in Yardley Hastings (village between N'ton and Bedford), went to school & college in N'ton, then moved to Australia, Norwich and then back to YH and finally to N'ton - Abington area and the whole town was my stomping ground when I was young and single! I believe, although I am open to contradiction, that I have been in most pubs in N'ton! We used to go to the Roadmender quite a bit too - which I believe has been closed now!!!! Disgusting! Bit of a theatre buff too, so enjoyed many happy nights at the Royal and a few at the Derngate. Then I moved up here to Ashbourne.

I have to put my hand up here, I am also a Northampton Exile- I did my nurse training up at the general..ah happy student days......I seem to have memories of somewhere called the 'king Billie', I remember the Racehorse- I went in there after seeing 'Ghost' down the road, it wasn't until I went to the ladies I realised what a mess my mascara was and the chaps I was with never thought to mention it...the rotters...

Thanks for the trip down memory lane
Kind thoughts
Deb

I had many a happy weekend down the roadmender at the carwash and various other 'club' nights.

My mate used to be a barman down the King Billy too, never went in there much as it was the other side of town.

The labour club seems to be the place that everyone hangs out now, which is down the same road as the badlaugh car park and the chronicle and echo.

If you went to Yardley what school did you go to? My mum was a teacher in Northamptonshire for many years, might have taught you.

Unfortunately, I am a product of Northampton High School for Girls - which has given me nothing but a posh accent (when I choose to use it)... however, once it moved to the Hardingstone site and changed Headmistresses, it has blossomed into a very good school. My sister did better (but then she HAS a brain!!!) he he
