Has anyone tried to grow the indoor dwarf variety of olive trees? If so, what have the results been like, and most importantly are the olives nice?

The problem trying to grow olives in this country is the length of our growing season, in warmer climates thier season is far warmer and longer and dryer than ours, we have also had the same problems with figs, a warm greenhouse would do the trick as you can grow bananas in the same way but it is keeping the right tempurature for long enough, good luck with this if it works i'm sure the taste would be far superior to any thing that you can buy, and i must say olive trees are one of the most beautiful trees around espesially when they are mature

My niece has a dwarf variety in her garden in Greenwich, she's gets a handful of olives off it. She asked me how I cure mine, but it's quite a long drawn-out process and I don't think a handful would warrant it. Russ is right though, it's such a beautiful evergreen tree it would look good in any garden.

We grew figs no problem in the Uk.

We now have hundreds of Olive trees here in Spain and I don't really think you will get many Olives in the UK. They need such a long warm summer. I would definitely try it if you can keep it warm though.

You can however, grow the trees outside no problem. You just won't get the fruit though.
