Seeing that Andy likes the 101-lists, I'd like to start another one.

Every single farm in the world (at least, all farms where they have a use of bales of one kind or another) seems to be held together by baling twine. However, we have a serious surplus of the stuff! Can you come up with a few more uses, please? The most original idea will be rewarded with - you guessed it - a large pack of baling twine... Used, of course. In two colours. Unfortunately none of the nice, natural sisal or jute stuff anymore, it's all plastic; doesn't rot, is incredibly strong, and lasts forever.

I'll start the list off with some of our "usual" uses:

1. Tie up gates, where bolts are missing.
2. Repair fences.
3. Tie up rubbish bags.
4. Use as dog leash.
5. Tether your goat.

7. tie up your breadbag once you've used it for one of the 101 ways as suggested in another thread lol

6. Tie up tomatoes to stakes!

8. Tie your superdooper prize winning tallest sunflower to a stake!!

Making slightly smaller bales with.

er is it 9? wrapping up your presents with. Well securing the paper (or bread bag) anyway.

10. Na na na nah nah because the straw I have for the chooks has some nice old sisal or jute (or whatever!) string in it, and I've used it to tie pieces of hazel together on the makeshift 'roof' of the new enclosed outside chicken run!! (This straw could be 100 years old for all I know!)

Having it hanging out of your pocket so you look sufficently self sufficient-ish.

14. macrame a range of fab bracelets and flog them to raise money for selfsufficientish

15. wrap a length of it around the middle of a bottle so that the bottle is easier to grip when you hands are wet and soapy

16. use as a makeshift belt!

17. makeshift bicycle clips. 18. tying around the feet of newly killed cockerels and hanging them from a convienient nail in the shed wall (guess what Ive been doing today??)

ummm... doing what I should be doing! Only DP is away and Jonathan wouldn't be too helpful at this task lol..... feeling poorly this weekend anyway so probably wouldn't be able to stomach it today. Tuesday is D Day - unless someone comes and takes them off our hands. Actually, one is particularly good and I keep hoping that someone will want him.

Does anyone know if you can freecycle chickens??

18. strangling slugs

That would have to be very big slugs, though - the twine is so thick nowadays!

Are we at 20? We seem to have two 18s...

20. Knot a fishing net.
21. Use as an angling line.
22. Make macramee wall hangings (see above, to flog for raising funds...)
23. Make macramee plant hangers!
24. Halters for horses/cattle/other beasties.
