I just got this book last week, and it's by an Australian author. I was intriged however, she suggests completely different methods than any other books Ive read, such as scrapping the seperate beds and crop rotation, and growing vegetables, and flowers mixed up as it creates for a more healthy garden. She also mentions maximising the use fo garden space, and growing thigns othe rbooks have not suggested, such as hops, lentils, wheat, rice, maize. Of course she also mentions a load of other fruits and plants you can't grow in this country like kiwis, sugar cane, passion fruit but it is interesting none the less. She covers how to grow enough food and how to store and rpeserve surplus crops in order to be pretty much self sufficient.
This book is deffinatley well worth a read, for an insight into growing in another country, and to open up the mind to other methods of growing.

Yes
What TheSandWitch says.
Like most Australians, Jackie French has a lot to say about anything.
She is a very prolific writer especially on organic gardening and has also written many kids books.
We have most of her works.
Even I, a non-gardener, remember some of her handy hints such as "To test the temperature of the soil prior to planting, drop your pants and sit your bum on the ground."
Who can argue with those sentiments?
Doc
Edited coz organic is spelt 'organic' not 'organnnininic' Who would have thunk?

Isn't she the one who wrote "Diary of a Wombat"? One of my favourites...
Although I wouldn't try that soil temperature test here.
