We always call them 'duh-duh-duh's'.
Because when the children were small they always used to put them to their lips, trumpet style and go "
Duh-Duh-Duuuhhh!!!".

15 (I think) give them to kittens to play with.
Family & friends bought my kitten loads of toys - the ones she preferred were toilet roll tubes & screwed up balls of paper. So maybe a cat/animal shelter would appreciate some tubes.

17. Draw faces on them and collect a whole tribe!
When I was at university, one of my close friends and housemates liked to do this. By the end of the year, our bathroom was crowded with numerous "TR people"!

I saw on the tv show 'heaven's garden,' that toilet roll inserts can be filled with compost, then carrot seeds can go in and germinate, then be planted straight out....
Do they fully biodegrade quick enough? Or would you steer well clear?

I've tried planting seeds (eg runner beans) in them but found two practical problems:
- the compost falls out the bottom
- they unroll when damp
I didn't try again as the remedies didn't seem worth the bother!

sorry to be a stick in the mud, but nursery regulations forbid the use of toilet rolls for craft. Kitchen rolls are fine. You can use them with your own precious darlings, but not other people's unfortunately (I get through more TP than KR, so they'll have to be plant pots instead!)
