My husband has just accepted a job offer with Fife Council and will also be attending Dundee University, so its a big move from Yorkshire to the Fife area for Me, Hubby and 8mth old son !!!

Have no idea about the area really - any info would be great !!

We are looking at houses but may need an allotment as not sure we'd get a decent garden - any ideas ??

Also would be grateful if you could give me any info on organic butchers, box schemes, farmshops, farmers markets etc ....

Please help me - am starting to worry about the move :?

Yep, I'lll look up a few things - I'm not much further from Dundee than from Aberdeen! One good place nearby is the Cairn O'Mohr winery... And across the river (Tay) from that, there's a fairly new organic centre, with large shop, butchery, restaurant etc. Have been meaning to visit for a while, just waiting for better weather!

And by the way - don't worry about the move. The locals are generally quite harmless, even friendly at times  !

Property - try http://www.f-kspc.co.uk/ - that is the fife solicitors property centre.
Or....
http://www.s1homes.com/directory/sale/- ... state.html

A general site - http://www.fifenow.co.uk/

http://www.scottishfarmersmarkets.co.uk/ - I guess Dundee, Forfar and Montrose would be easy enough to get to for you.

http://www.blacketyside.co.uk/ is a farmshop in Fife - and other info is found on this (FAB name !!)
http://www.puddledub.co.uk/markets.html

http://www.kirkcaldytowncentre.co.uk/whatson.htm - apparently there is a farmers market here too - AND A FOOD FEST

Fife is a fair way from here really - a couple of hours drive. But Ina and I are planning a trip down to Perth sometime later in the year, so perhaps we could meet up with you too?????

Allotments - http://www.fife.gov.uk/atoz/index.cfm?f ... 4D6D92ACDA

Best of luck with the move!!!

Couldn't think of it this morning - it's Jamesfield organics:
http://jamesfieldfarm.com/jamesfieldfarm/default.asp

I go to Forfar farmer's market occasionally; Montrose is a bit nearer, but they've only just started, so I can't say anything much about it! If you are househunting to the north of Dundee and have a bit of spare time (and the need for a cup of tea), pop in. We are lambing, so I'm quite busy, the house is in a mess, but on the other hand, I'm on flexi time and can generally get off for a bit. I'll pm you my details.

Hope you enjoy living here

Depends were you finally settle, but we really love living here in Dundee and have just acquired our first allotment.

Dundee City has a good website:
http://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/
and if you search for "organic" you'll find all the Farmers Markets and "allotment" ......

Hiya Peatie

What an appropriate name for a Scottish member!

Good to see another one from this area here. (I'm sort of halfway between Dundee and Aberdeen - maybe a tad nearer to Aberdeen.)

Do you live right in the city?

The "posh" end - Broughty Ferry. My plot is off the Arbroath Road - Old Craigioe Road.

Broughty Ferry looks nice - I've only been through it. But that's quite a way to your allotment, isn't it? No popping over in your lunchbreak... That's what I like about having a garden at the house: I can just do a few minutes at a time, and actually get a lot done that way, rather than having to turn it into an outing.
