Hello there ,

I watched BBC's panorama on Monday night racisme in British town's , in this case Bristol.
Here a British born muslim moved in to a "white " estate ,and the reactions of the people !

I lived in Holland for qiute a few years and if there is a multi cultural envoirment it is in Holland , this kind of racisme
would not to be imagined in Holland.
Also I lived in the UK (1970's) , Ireland ,late 1990's and at present Germany .Of course there are foreigners every
where nowadays , but the reactions I saw on the BBC , never seen anything like it .

Is this an extreme example being presented by the BBC ?
During my stay in other countries I have heard a few comments about foreigners but to this level,
never before .
I am starting to wonder when I retire and return to the UK , would this be a good Idea ?
My yorkshire accent is now gone and my English is with a very strong dutch /german accent ,
would it give problems ???????????????

regards ,

Paul

I would say no not at all.

This program was made to get a reaction, the abuse was from kids, and the reporters were deliberately obtuse to encourage the reaction.

This was an extremely poor area, with social housing in the majority.

You will always get racist idiots, but generally people I find are happy to engage new people to an area, provided they are friendly and want to engage themselves.

The rules of city life and living are very different to those of the village and countryside.
