What should I do with the Rabbit Fur??

I want to breed rabbits for meat.
I breed rabbits for pets so I know how that works and what to feed etc.

It's just the fur, I don't want to waste it. So what should I do with it??

On reading another post about raising rabbits for meat, someone said they breed Standard Rex.
This would be an idea breed for me as I have a pet Standard Rex buck, and I can get some does quite easily.
(I breed Netherland Dwarfs so not much meat on them lol)

Also

At what age would they rabbits need to be despatched??
And at would weight would be idea for a Standard Rex??

Raising rabbits makes sense as we are mid terrace so can't have a cockerel (have a few meatie chicken nearly ready for the table at mo) and I don't fancy eating Turkey all year!! And with 4 growing children to feed rabbit is starting to make alot of sense, not that I've ever eaten it! (I will get one to try 1st but my mum said I will like it!)

Any help would be useful

Thanks xx

You can make glue out of rabbit skins, line boots and shoes with RS and also sell them but they need to be good quality. I was researching this just yeasterday.

It will be wrong to let the bairns name or feed the rabbits unless the rabbits suddenly run off to see their mam in about 12 to 20 weeks time....
