Olive Oil soap

Hello
Reading through some old posts it seems maybe some people here make olive oil soap?
I haven't tried as I'd read that it's tricky to get good solidity but would be very happy to find out that's wrong as olives grow a lot closer to home than palms and coconuts (2 oils I have used)!
If anyone has any advice I'd love to give it a whirl.
Thanks, Jill x

Hi Jill, I've made soap once so I'm very definitely not an expert but my recipe was a mixture of olive oil, coconut butter and shea butter - are you looking to try just olive oil? I've read that just olive oil on its own is tricky, but my recipe was dead easy, I got trace practically by looking at it. I haven't used it yet as it is still curing but it seems absolutely fine.

Sounds good Susie
Yes, I would ideally like just olive oil if possible cause it's a few less air miles but will see how I go and maybe come back to you!
Thanks, Jill

Castile soap is pure olive oil - it's a hard soap and not very lathery! Very easy to make though.
The best olive oil to make it with is pomace - it's the last pressing, the really cheap stuff - A$da sell it in 5l bottles for about £6 - you can get a lot of soap out of 5l.
