Eat well, don't smoke, smile daily, develop an appreciation for real beauty not the kind sold in stores

I will always be a minger, however much I spend on cosmetics. A paper bag is far cheaper, and doesn't frighten small children. And it's biodegradable........
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

Cannot remember where I read it (my brain cells are dying faster than I can catch up!) but someone famous said that the only cosmetic a lady needs is a smile! Obviously had not seen me on my bad days   It is true though that a smile improves most faces and exercises many muscles in the face

I gave up going to the hairdressers and stopped washing my hair every day. Now I only wash it once a week and trim the ends twice a year.

My hair is so much better now, a lot less frizzy and much softer. I've saved myself hundreds of pounds a year and my hair is sooooo much better.

Oil is great: eating omega 3's is good for your skin from the inside, oil cleansing with castor oil(and another) is wonderful for your face and coconut oil is great for lips, hair and as a moisturiser.
Microfibre cloths are great for cleansing without products- not as rough as face cloths but slough away dead skin cells nicely.
Washing too frequently will age you before your time.
Lots of makeup and overstyled hair makes you look like a slapper so don't bother.
hmmm it's a wonder I am not a beauty editor really.

Keep yourself hydrated
Eat well and include lots of vitamin and mineral rich foods
Stay out of the sun and harsh weather (if you can)
Don't smoke or drink too much alcohol or caffeine
Try to get enough, regular sleep making sure your room is dark (throw out those thin curtains or invest in a lining) and keep the room adequately ventilated and cool
If you feel you are lacking in vitamins, get a good vitamin and mineral tablet supplement and / or a high strength vitamin C tablet (I take a 1000mg one every night, has worked wonders for my skin AND my immune system which has been run into the ground by stress etc)
Try to de-stress as much as possible, take a bath, listen to relaxing music etc
After bathing (before you dry out too much) apply a good moisturiser to your skin all over and especially in problem dry spots
If you wear makeup, try to keep it light so it doesn't block your pores and make sure you take it off at night and don't fall into bed still wearing it
Use herbal rinses on your hair (rosemary is good for brunettes)
File your nails in ONE direction only, the back and forth motion causes friction and heat which weakens the edges and makes them chip easier
Wear clothes to suit your shape it not only takes pounds off you but also years
Go natural... this includes food, drinks, medicines (within reason), beauty products etc etc etc Chemicals = FAIL!
Make sure you find colours that suit your skin tone and hair colour

... I'm sure there's more but that will do for now :)

Only associate with people who love you for what you are not what you look like!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Stripy can you recommend a good herbal wash for red hair, I haven't heard of doing this before

My tips are:
Use a handful of porridge oats and water to ex foliate your face, it seems to really soften it.
Warm up olive oil and honey, apply to hair and cover with a plastic bag for 20min. This can really bring back 'dead' ends back to life and makes your hair really shiny and vibrant
Make a body scrub from course salt and olive oil or brown sugar and almond oil, also use exfoliation gloves with any nice soap to get rid of those little bumps on your arms

Somebody I know told me the other day they once spent £90 on a face cream. I just wanted to say that to people who might agree with me that it possibly wasn't money well spent.

My OH just suggested that a plastic bag over my head for 20mins would improve my looks no end. ..he is now sitting in the garden waiting for me to let him back indoors!!
