What to plant now to replace a failure?

My carrots have failed miserably (stupid carrot fly). Ideally I'd like to replant with something else, am I too late for sugar snap peas and broad beans? They're my favourites but it might be wishful thinking. Any ideas what else? I'm already swiming in cabbages. More beets maybe?

Broad beans I think you are either too late or too early ! Too early for overwintering ones that is and too late for summer ones as they take about 4 months to flower.
Mange tout peas might work, depends on the weather you're likely to get in the autumn and how sheltered your plot is. They take about 3 months and are not so dependant on bees for pollination. Dwarf runner beans are quick and lettuces, radishes & turnips would certainly crop before winter starts.
Or you could sow a green manure crop and then sow overwintering broad beans in October/November.

Yup, what odsox said. Plus rocket, mizuna or mooli.

Rainbow chard? Nice and pretty, and fairly indestructible...(well, mine is...)

we always sow some more runners when the spuds have come out (about now) - normal ones, not dwarfs
now is the time to sow brassicas - brocolli raab, turnip greens, chinese brocolli, pak choi etc
never too late for salad leaves, and when its a bit cooler - rocket (in amongst the runners)
a trick with the salad leaves if you're in a hurry, is to buy some growing salad from sainsburys and plant it out
good luck!

It's nice to hear that others had problems with carrots. I got swift moth as well as carrot fly just for the fun of it.
