Big Brother is back so we are faced with another 10 weeks or what ever it is of front page news from a house full of idiots.

There are much better things to be doing with your self at 9pm every night of the week surely. Are there 101 things to do instead of big brother? I am sure there are and 101 much more interesting things to do too.

1. darn some socks.
2. Make a table from papier machie
3. Turn over your compost bin
4. Bake some bread

I've already baked some bread (a fougasse, containing sundried tomatoes!) but, with no telly, there's little danger of me suffering an encounter with BB. I'm whittling away the evening working on rosetta, my alpha stage web project for language flashcards...

Ditto here. Although, even the Sunday Herald mentions it occasionally, and that's the only paper I buy...

12. Sell your telly?

despair........

utter, utter despair at the thought of this drivel occupying the time of the brain-dead members of the british public - we face imminent ecological meltdown, the most draconian control-freak government since Nazi Germany, the threats from GM, ID cards, drought and global warming, and all they care about are the likes of Jayde Goody (there's a misnomer if I ever heard one) - airing their two brain cells!
If you still have a telly, I would recommend "have I got news for you" at 9 on fridays as an excellent substitute - followed by seeking out some paint drying for real intellectual stimulation.............

That used to be on radio, didn't it? And then it became so popular that they moved it to TV... Bloody shame.

'The News Quiz' is still on the radio, when it's on (IYSWIM), and much preferable to HIGNFY, though they've both gone off the boil in recent years - inventive satire being replaced by banal derogation, as so often happens.

Most good comedy seems to start on radio 4. Might boosh was another one that moved, although I think it makes better TV than radio.

13. plant some grass seed
14. Watch 13 grow
15. Hit yourself over the head with a hammer, will probally loose as many brain cell than if you were watching bb.
16. pick slugs off your plot.

Goodness, I hate BB with a vengence. What a load of old tosh. If it was watching SSF'ers doing their daily duties in the veggie patch or stuff like that, I'd probably be interested!

Is it me or am I becoming a grumpy old lady?

I will be making tonnes of wedding stationery as it's that time of year and filling my beautiful greenhouse with tomatoes, courgettes and anything else I can cram in there!

Read a book.
Have a nice long hot bath.
read a book in the bath.
Sew a quilt.
Knit a sweater.
Clean the oven.

In BB's defence, it did get a lot of people interested in keeping hens in their gardens.
