There is one peach tree in the garden. It produces a fine tasting fruit. Most of the fruit has some skin damage from some unknown insect, but this does not penetrate into the fruit. There is nothing quite as tasty as a tree ripened peach, seldom encountered unless in your own garden, since when ripe the fruit is soft and does not ship well, also it is difficult to pick without further damage.

All my peaches have that speckled thing too, it isn't from insects. Forgot what it's called and it makes the fruit a bit harder on that side, sometimes to the point of being barely edible. It's rare that I get some peaches without it which is a shame.
I'm surprised you have peaches so early in the year as you are late getting started there. Our peaches fruit 3rd week of September but they are white ones and I also have some which are blood red inside but they have never been edible due to the spotty problem.
When they are good though I totally agree, just pick one warm off the tree and nothing tastes better!

Thanks for the information about the peach scab. This is my first experience with peaches. Common sense should have indicated that the damage was caused by other than insects.
