Setting up a Wild Harvest walking group

'ello!

I am thinking of starting a walking/harvesting/food for free group in my local area (writtle, chelmsford) to meet once a month to collect goodies from the hedgerow for tasty recipes, but I am a little in the dark as to land laws and collection rules. I want the group to be a success, not tread on anyones toes or steal from public/private land.
If anyone knows of a useful website or book or has any tips please don't hesitate to let me know.

Great idea EW, only law I've heard of (apart from not supposing to tresspass or forage without the landowners permission) is, You are permitted to pick any fruit(etc.) hanging over a public right of way. Don't quote me on this, better to just not get caught...

Happy foraging

thanks guys, the encourgement is greatly received, I have wanted to do it for a while but always been a bit weary, I'm hoping to keep it quite informal and relaxed. Hopefully get a good group who want to swap knowledge and tips for finding wild foods, and how to cook with them- recipe swaps etc.
Will be posting posters soon, once they are all done.
